Rick J. Barnett
President and CEO
Rick J. Barnett joined Satellite in September 2014, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience at some of California's leading hospitals and ambulatory care centers. Most recently Rick was Sr. Vice President of VHA Inc., responsible for the enterprise on a national level, while simultaneously fulfilling his responsibilities as Executive Officer of the West Coast Region. In his roles at VHA, Rick directed a network of more than 100 hospitals and related entities across Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Prior to that, Rick served as President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center Redding; President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta; and Sr. Vice President and COO of Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.
As President and CEO for Satellite Healthcare, Inc., Rick is responsible for managing the organization's strategic plans, which include further establishing Satellite as the nation's leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of care for people with kidney disease.
Rick is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives, the Medical Group Management Association, the American Management Association, and the Adaptive Business Leaders Organization. He has held seats on numerous boards ranging from The Hospital Council of Northern California to various non-profit, government, and university organizations. He holds a Master's Degree in Business from California State University at Fullerton and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Pacific Union College.
Brigitte Schiller, M.D. is responsible for leading Satellite’s medical and clinical initiatives focused on advancing our already superior clinical outcomes and improving our strategic and economic position. She also provides leadership in the changing regulatory environment, oversees our research efforts and maintains Satellite’s competitive edge in home therapies.
Dr. Schiller’s professional background spans the breadth of the field of nephrology. She has been in private practice as a nephrologist and primary care physician; provided immediate post-transplant patient care; managed a 100-patient hemodialysis center; acted as a content area expert and consultant to medical companies in the field of nephrology; and conducted nephrology research on a range of topics.
Dr. Schiller graduated summa cum laude from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, Germany and completed her residency and research fellowships at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, Northwestern University and the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. She has published numerous articles on dialysis and kidney related issues, made many presentations at dialysis conferences and seminars and has received awards for research and teaching excellence. Dr. Schiller also is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the division of Nephrology at Stanford University.
Susan Del Bene joined Satellite Healthcare in 2003. She is responsible for the financial and accounting operations and for many of the administrative requirements of the organization. As a member of the executive management team, she is actively involved in the strategic and tactical planning and ongoing business development. Previously, Ms. Del Bene was the Chief Financial Officer for the CRC Health Corporation of San Jose, Calif., and the Chief Financial Officer for the CEDU Family of Services in Monterey, Calif. She also worked for Kaiser Permanente as the Controller at the San Francisco hospital. In addition to her experience in healthcare, she was a systems consultant with American Management Systems in various industries. Ms. Del Bene is a CPA, holds a B.S. in Accounting and has completed master's work in information systems at Regis University and in taxation at Golden Gate University.
Dave Carter joined Satellite Healthcare in 2014. As COO he is responsible for the organization's operational functions, as well as coordination of many programs and services. Dave has more than 30 years of healthcare experience and dialysis services management. Prior to joining Satellite, Dave served as Midwest Region President of Nashville, Tennessee-based SpecialtyCare, where he was responsible for leadership, oversight and growth of the Midwest business unit. Among his previous roles were positions serving as a Senior Group Vice President at Fresenius Medical Care and Regional Vice President of Renal Care Group. Dave is also the Director of CHAMP Camp, Inc., an accredited not-for-profit camp program he co-founded in 1990 for children with significant medical and physical disabilities. He holds both a B.S. in Management and a Masters of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Glenn Davis joined Satellite Healthcare in 2015. As CICO he is charged with leading Satellite’s growth and expansion, driving its strategic planning process, and helping transform the organization’s care model to encompass a broader spectrum of care for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease. Glenn has 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including 25 years with organizations in the renal care space. He joined Satellite from ARC Fertility Network, where he was Senior Vice President of Practice & Business Development for the company’s national network of more than 70 fertility centers and more than 300 physicians. Among his previous roles were positions serving as Vice President of Western Operations for Prospira PainCare; Vice President of Growth at Lifeline Vascular Access, a Strategic Business Unit of DaVita Kidney Care; and Chief Operating Officer at Optimal Renal Group, which is now operated by Fresenius Medical Partners. Glenn holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.
Estrella Parker joined Satellite Healthcare in 2015. Estrella provides strategic leadership and direction to maximize employee engagement and contribution while driving human resource function excellence. She leads the Satellite teams that focus on compensation and benefits, employee relations, talent acquisition, workforce planning, and human resources information systems.
Estrella has more than 20 years of experience in human resource and change management at large healthcare and international Fortune 500 companies. She spent 10 years with The Clorox Company, as Senior Director for HR Global Solutions and HR Global Business Partnership. Prior to that position, she served as Vice President for Human Resources and Human Resources Transformation Program Integration at Kaiser Permanente as well as National Director for Strategic Change at The Prudential Insurance Co.
Parker earned an M.B.A. from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines. In addition, she holds a Professional Coaching Certification from New Ventures West.
Sergey Muza brings engineering, technology, and Internet experience to Satellite Healthcare. He is responsible for the information technology operations in all of Satellite's business units, managing software development, operational support, and system, network, and database administration. Mr. Muza was responsible for developing Satellite's state-of-the-art clinical, lab ordering, and billing systems and is leading the development of the company's Electronic Health Record system. Prior to Satellite Healthcare, Sergey served as Vice President of Technology at Ask Jeeves Inc. where he was responsible for the engineering groups of the company's Web division. Before that, Mr. Muza served as Director of Technology at Charles Schwab, where he headed engineering and technology groups for Schwab Institutional division. He also led the application development organization at Schwab Institutional, building applications for the firm's sales, marketing, finance, and operation functions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Muza worked at Clorox Company, where he developed ERP, CRM, and business intelligence applications. He holds an MBA from SFSU and an MS in engineering from Marine University.
Marsha Dodd joined Satellite Healthcare in 2015, bringing more than 25 years of health care management experience and 10 years in kidney care services. In the newly created executive role of Chief Business Integration and Strategic Relationship Officer, Dodd is charged with developing and leading the Business Integration Team and initiatives for the transition of new business ventures with integrated health systems, medical groups, and health plans entering into strategic business partnerships with Satellite Healthcare. She is also responsible for leading Satellite’s payer contracting team, and Improvement l and Innovation Councils.
Prior to joining Satellite Healthcare, Dodd served as Vice President, Corporate Development, Business Development & Hospital Services at DaVita HealthCare Partners. She previously held Vice President-level positions with InSight Health Corp. HealthSouth, and Alliance HealthCare Services and consulting roles with Memorial Healthcare, Providence Healthcare, UCSD Medical Center, large radiology group practices in the U.S.
Dodd holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Health Services Management and Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University. She is active in the American College of Healthcare Executives and her professional training includes programs at the Harvard School of Business, GE Healthcare, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles and UC Berkeley.
