Satellite Healthcare Celebrates World Kidney Day and National Kidney Month
Satellite WellBound to Provide Free Better LIFE Wellness Classes to Help Raise Kidney Health Awareness
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, March 12, 2009 – Satellite Healthcare, Inc., one of the nation’s first and largest providers of kidney dialysis services and a major sponsor of nephrology research, today announced it will do its part to help change the way the world views Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), by offering free Better LIFE wellness classes at its WellBound centers nationwide.
The public is encouraged to make World Kidney Day, March 12th, the day they focus on their kidney health and are invited to contact a WellBound center near them to sign up for one of six free Better LIFE Wellness classes. These classes provide patients with important education facts needed to help prolong the life of their kidneys. The Better LIFE classes range from nutritional education, to exercise, to healthy hearts, to the advantages and disadvantages of specific options treatments, resulting in patients having a more informed therapy choice.
WellBound has established a growing network to deliver wellness education and the full spectrum of self-care dialysis options, including daily home hemodialysis. The company’s unique expertise in pre-dialysis patient Better LIFE wellness education and personalized self-care training facilitates a higher quality of life and improved clinical outcomes for CKD patients.
Outreach, education and a call to service have played vital parts in developing an unprecedented partnership between Satellite Healthcare and the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). And Satellite Healthcare continues its phenomenal track record of support to the NKF in gearing up for Kidney Walks within the next few months. These walks are fun, inspiring, community fundraisers that call attention to the prevention of CKD and the need for organ donation. They are also an opportunity for patients, family, friends, and businesses to come together to support the 26 million Americans with CKD.
With headquarters in Silicon Valley, the global capital of technology and innovation, it’s fitting that Satellite Healthcare will also use video and the internet to educate the public about the importance and functions of the kidneys. A series of short, fun videos has been created to help the public realize the important roles kidneys play in overall health. Those interested can also learn more by downloading the “Better LIFE” free wellness classes brochure, offered at www.satellitehealth.com/kidneys.
