Press ReleaseSatellite Healthcare Announces The Recipients Of Exclusive Endowments Awarded To Promising Researchers In An Ongoing Effort To Further Kidney Disease Research MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - September 17, 2009—Satellite Healthcare, one of the nation’s first and leading providers of kidney dialysis services and a major sponsor of nephrology research, today announced the recipients of the 2009 Norman S. Coplon Extramural Grant Program. Recipients of these annual grants are young scientists at leading universities and medical centers in the United States and Canada who are pursuing innovative kidney disease research projects. “Awarding these yearly grants is very exciting for everyone, the recipients as well as the staff here at Satellite Healthcare,” said Dr. John Moran, Senior Vice President of Clinical Affairs for Satellite Healthcare and WellBound. “Kidney disease affects more than 26 million Americans, with another 20 million at risk of developing the disease over their lifetime. Our intention is to empower the best and brightest of researchers.” Named for Dr. Norman S. Coplon, the founder of Satellite Healthcare, The Norman S. Coplon Extramural Grant Program is especially aimed at supporting researchers in the early stages of their careers. Grant proposals are submitted to Satellite Research, a division of Satellite Healthcare, are reviewed and ranked by the independent Satellite Scientific Advisory Board. While research topics for the grants are not restricted to any one clinical area, applicants must focus on topics that exhibit scientific merit and potential for clinical application. The Coplon Grants allow for a maximum of $50,000 per year for a maximum of three years for each recipient. The 2009 Norman S. Coplon Extramural Grant Recipients Satish A.
