Mountain View, CA, October 14, 2010 – Satellite Healthcare, one of the United States’ first and leading not-for-profit kidney dialysis service providers, and a major sponsor of nephrology research, is pleased to announce that Chief Medical Officer Brigitte Schiller, M.D. will be speaking October 15th at the Symposium on Home Dialysis 2010 in Manchester, England.

Sponsored by the European Renal Association, the Symposium offers a comprehensive two-day program exploring the “Nuts and Bolts of Home Therapies,” featuring talks by leaders in the field of nephrology from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the United States. Topics to be explored include advances in home therapies, country progress reports and home dialysis finances. Dr. Schiller will give two presentations:

  • “Frequent Haemodialysis – The Freedom Study & US experience”
  • “Thinking outside the box - Identifying Patients for Home [Dialysis]”

“I am honored to take part in a program that speaks directly to a topic I feel so strongly about,” said Dr. Schiller. “Satellite Healthcare has long placed a heavy emphasis on encouraging patients to take advantage of self-care dialysis therapies, and it is my hope that more patients will find empowerment in this way in the months and years to come.”

Satellite Healthcare is a longtime advocate and leader in home dialysis, with more than twenty percent of its patients receiving in-home care through its WellBoundprogram, well above the national rate among dialysis providers.
